On Future Challenges and Opportunities
For over 30 years the Depot Theater Company has stood as the pinnacle of live entertainment in western Kansas. In that time we’ve fostered a love for music, live theater, great food, and great camaraderie. As with any arts organization in this day and age, however, there are countless challenges before us. Couched in those challenges, however, are also great opportunities.
The Depot Theater is poised to begin a new era of reinvigorated performing arts here in western Kansas. Unfortunately, as we move into this era we are losing two major company leaders – CEO and Director of Fundraising Ila Siders and Depot Theater Board Chairman Ken Bailey. We sincerely thank Ila for her hard work this past year, and wish her the best as she moves on to new adventures. She will remain involved with the Depot as a member of the board of directors. Ken’s input on the board has been invaluable. As they move on to new journeys, we look forward to increased growth with new board members with new ideas as we embark on the funding challenge.
The board has begun looking for a new leader to head the Depot’s numerous opportunities. Longtime theater supporter Katie Ruthi was voted on to the board Monday evening. Day-to-day operations at the theater continue uninterrupted, and the Depot’s Directors Guild is already hard at work planning the next season.
Under guidance from both experienced and fresh leadership, we stand ready to meet our challenges headfirst and shepherd the Depot Theater Company into a new era of performing arts excellence. We want to thank all of our patrons, donors and supporters. Without your unwavering support, western Kansas would be so much less wonderful.
The Depot Theater Company is southwest Kansas’ premiere location for live entertainment. For over 30 years, the company has given voice to local and area actors, singers, musicians, and writers, and entertained hundreds of thousands of people from across the globe.
